本機は、長さのある穴加工が可能な横形の中ぐり盤である。シリンダー内径や砲身内径を正確に仕上げることができる。18世紀中頃に蒸気機関のシリンダー用に開発されたのが前身となる。テーブルにワークを載せて加工する。
