本機は、初期の形削り盤の改良機である。本体及びラム（往復運動する台）に剛性を持たせてあるが、ラムを往復運動させるクランク機構と横送り機構が、本体外側に大きくはみ出す特異な形状をしている。フレームに1901の陽刻がある。

This is an improvement over the early shapers. The main body and table are rigid, but the crank mechanism and lateral feed mechanism that move the head have a special shape that can protrude quite far beyond the main body. The year 1901 is inscribed on the frame.
