本機は、金属加工用の初期の普通旋盤である。自動送りやねじ切り用の親ねじがなく、刃物台は初期の手持ちバイトを支えるだけの形態である。電動機は後の設置となる。普通旋盤はマザーマシン（機械をつくる機械）とも呼ばれる。

There is no master screw for automatic feeding or thread cutting, and the tool post is an early type that only supports a hand-held bit. An electric motor will be installed later.
