動態展示する本機は、全鉄製の普通旋盤（汎用旋盤）である。往復台や刃物台、親ねじと自動送り装置、低速回転を可能とするバックギヤなどが付き、完成の域に近づく普通旋盤である。刃物台の1本バイトと、往復台下部に取り付く刃物台を安定させる大きな重りに時代を感じさせる。

This machine’s operation can be seen in the exhibition. It is an all-iron standard lathe (a general-purpose lathe). It is an ordinary lathe and is close in style to the full, final development of this type, with a reciprocating table, tool post, lead screw, automatic feed device, and reverse gear that enables low-speed rotation.
